Tjerk Boorsma 

Strategy & Impact – Founder, Chairman


  • Tjerk is responsible for guiding the overall direction of the initiative, overseeing strategy, development, the execution of impact-driven digital campaigns, and building partnerships across the civic, media, and digital strategy sectors.

    He brings deep expertise in research, insights, and digital analytics, with a career spanning work for innovation-focused consultancies and global Fortune 1000 companies. Tjerk previously led analytics and business development at TrueChoice Solutions and consulted for BehaviorQuant, a behavioural science tech startup. He currently works at Digitalberatung GmbH, part of the MAI Group (Marketing Automation Intelligence). He holds a Master’s degree in Policy, Communication, and Organisation from VU University Amsterdam.

Christophe Gevert

Funding, Partnerships & Organisational Growth – Co-Founder, Deputy Chairman


  • Chris leads the efforts in building strategic partnerships and securing funding to grow our mission-driven work. He focuses on establishing long-term collaborations with funding partners, civil society actors, and aligned organisations. He is also responsible for the operational structure and supports strategic development, translating our vision into impact.

    Chris contributes with in-depth expertise from business development, finance and helping organisations scale their operations. He holds a diploma in Business Administration from the University of Valencia

Academic partnerships and research integration – Co-Founder


  • eWa is responsbible for collaboration with academic institutions and researchers. She ensures that our campaign content is grounded in evidence and shaped by current research, and she coordinates the assessment and measurement of the societal impact of our work.

    She is a lecturer at the Vienna University of Applied Sciences for Management & Communication in the Department of Communication, Digitalization and Sustainability. In addition to her academic background, Ewa brings expertise in leadership coaching, intercultural communication, and digital business development, connecting theory and practice in everything she contributes.

Nikolaus Tuschar

Advocacy & Media Relations – Co-Founder


  • As an accomplished advocacy strategist and journalist with deep roots in Austria’s media, political, and policy ecosystems, Nikolaus leverages his dual background in communications and journalism to shape policy debates and drive advocacy efforts. His career includes advising political stakeholders, managing regional operations for a leading Austrian newspaper, and heading corporate communications for a global tech firm.

    At Greenwood, Nikolaus is committed to promoting a media environment based on trust. He focuses on building strong media networks and crafting compelling narratives that engage audiences and shape public opinion, leveraging digital tools to amplify voices that drive positive change.

Sven Saekert

Strategic Communications & EU-Affairs – Co-Founder


  • With extensive experience in public relations, digital communication, and strategic campaigning at the European and national level, Sven is instrumental in implementing impactful communication initiatives. His overarching goal is to ensure that connectivity enhances collectivity, driving a more cohesive and informed society. 

    Throughout his career, Sven has advised public institutions, organizations, and companies with societal aspirations in Vienna, Berlin, and Brussels. His work focuses on fostering collaboration and purpose-driven communication to rebuild public trust, combat disinformation, and serve as a moderator in facilitating informed dialogue. He holds a diploma in Information Science and Engineering.

  • Dr. Thomas A. Bauer is a distinguished communications scholar and media expert, blending academic research with practical media development and international collaboration. As Professor at the University of Vienna's Department of Communication, he profoundly influenced media culture, literacy, and theory. His expertise spans future studies, environmental and health communication, and inter-cultural dialogue, consistently highlighting societal communication's role in social change. With a doctorate in Communication Studies from the University of Salzburg, a habilitation in Media Education, and an honorary doctorate from the Academy of Journalism and Communication in Hanoi, Vietnam, his unique connection of deep theoretical insight and practical application benefits organisations like the Greenwood Digital Initiative in supporting an informed and media-literate society

Mag. Dr. Angelika Mlinar, LL.M.


  • Angelika Mlinar, now a seasoned UN diplomat, brings a wealth of experience navigating diverse political landscapes across Europe. Her current role builds upon a remarkable political past, including her time as a representative in both the Austrian National Council and the European Parliament, as well as her duties as a minister in Slovenia. Her engagement in European governance and transnational partnership has equipped her with a comprehensive understanding of the region's dynamics. With her legal expertise (University of Salzburg, American University - LL.M.) and a doctorate in law focused on women's rights as human rights, she combines political insight and international finesse when supporting organisations like the Greenwood Digital Initiative in realizing their objectives.

Dr. Harvey Dzodin 


  • Harvey Dzodin is a renowned global strategist who bridges cultural and political divides. From advising U.S. President Jimmy Carter to his leading role at ABC Television, Dr. Dzodin offers a unique understanding of both American and international landscapes. His experience includes service at the United Nations Office in Vienna. Now a leading expert on China and global affairs with deep ties to international media and academia, he is supporting the Greenwood Digital Initiative with a significant advantage in promoting reliable journalism worldwide. His blend of media acumen and geopolitical insight is underpinned by a strong legal foundation from Harvard Law School and London School of Economics (LSE). 

Why we started

The Greenwood Digital Initiative was born from a shared sense of urgency, and possibility.

As professionals in media, research, and communication, we’ve seen firsthand how digital spaces shape what people believe. We’ve seen how disinformation spreads and how trust in public institutions is quietly fading.

We want to find out, how digital tools can instead be used in a meaningful way to drive positive societal impact. To increase solidarity and to support informed public discourse.

As democratic values came under pressure and the erosion of social cohesion accelerated, we realised: The need to restore trust in fact-based information, journalism and public institutions had become urgent.

This led us to the Greenwood Digital Initiative: a non-profit organisation, aiming to reuse modern digital strategies to strengthen democracy and rebuild trust. We’re starting locally but think globally and with everyone in mind.
